Y is for Yew Tree Maze
I first blogged about the yew tree maze in Veronon Park, Stockport six years ago on Ackworth born, gone West. I recently took another look to see its progress.
It still has a long way to go before it will become much of a puzzle. One can still walk through between many of the trees and indeed directly from the entrance to the middle. None of this takes anything away from the magnificence of the central tree.

Four photographs of St Thomas's, Hillgate
I recently went past St Thomas's, Hillgate and took some new photographs. On the south side of the church the gravestones have been mostly flattened for ease of maintenance and the large tree has had its branches cut back. If you look carefully you can see a cat at the bottom of the tree.
St Thomas's Parish Church was opened in 1825 having been built as one of a hundred churches funded by grants from the government and regarded as a thanksgiving for victory over Napoleon, hence the name "Waterloo" Churches. St. Thomas was built in the classical style and is now recognised as a building of National importance being Grade I Listed.

Something is happening in Lord Street
I posted views of the pedstrianised portion of Lord Street in November 2013.
I'm not sure what is happening there now but this is how it looked last Wednesday.

River Goyt from Park Bridge
The River Goyt as viewed from Park Bridge on Great Portwood Street.
The Goyt rises on the moors of Axe Edge, near the Cat and Fiddle Inn. It runs from the Errwood and Fernilee reservoirs, north of Buxton to Stockport where just around the next bend it joins the River Tame to form the Mersey.
