A is for Ashlea

The Ashlea is a Chef and Brewer pub on Manchester Road, Cheadle.

I don't know anything about its history and I suspect the coat of arms featured on the pub sign is a modern made-up image and not some proper family crest.

A contribution to ABC Wednesday and signs, signs.

  1. It does seem to have a modern feel to it.

  3. I've only heard that as a girl's name, curious. As it is a chef and brewer (which I suspect is one to avoid) it must be what is on the menu:-)

  4. The two buildings are so different that I thought it was two different pubs until I looked closely at the signs. Yes, the coat of arms looks like a lot of bulls to me. Perhaps the specialize in beef?

  7. There used to be a company that would "research" your family crest. Actually they made one up and sent it for a fee.

  9. I've always thought that coats of arms had a a variety of symbols on them and this looks like the same animal repeated. Still it looks like a friendly pub.
