N is for Norbury Parish Church and burial ground

Dedicated to St Thomas, the present church dates mainly from 1833. There are some 4000 graves in the churchyard which was first opened for burials in 1834 and has continued in use right up to the present day. All the spaces available for new burials have now been used.

  2. What a magnificent old church. I love the graveyard and its tombstones. We don't see this here in western Canada.

  4. It's the tower that I really like - I've always associated that shape with England.

  6. This is the photo I like best of all your previous posts, Gerald. Really so typically English: the church, the graveyard next to it and... the rainy sky!
    Thanks.

  7. Am not sure I see it correctly, is the church early Gothic architecture? What I like (and wish it was still this way, but I understand in a city the size of Los Angeles it would not be doable) is that the graves are on the grounds of the church.
By the way, since I'm leaving google+, I'll give you my IP JPS39vanKerkvoorde at Blogspot.
